My own district used to have a short morning and afternoon recess for the primary students, in addition to the regular recess after lunch. Our administrators cut the additional afternoon recess last year. The primary teachers were very upset by this, and I believe they are rightfully disgruntled. Even in 4th grade and 5th grade, I find myself working hard to include daily classroom activities that foster movement. We ALL need to MOVE! Our principals claim that teachers have 20 more minutes of instruction time with students, but from what I have heard and experienced, I really don't think the extra 20 minutes of instruction time is benefiting the students. Students are much more focused when they have had a recess break. Many teachers, still take their classes out on their own time to make up for the lack of recess time. With your paper you might want to include a resource representing the other side of your argument. You seem very passionate about this topic and your voice is heard loud and clear. This is an argument I think almost anyone would agree with you. However, to convince the powers that be to give students more breaks from academics, I think you should give more specific details and quotes. Cite in APA or MLA format. The content is there, but it would have to be packaged in a way that will have more impact.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00423051076809524563noreply@blogger.com
